The assessment lesson is designed for Riders who have never been to the Chestnuts Riding School, and this is regardless of experience. This is an introduction for the customer to a horse if they are a total beginner, and this first session allows us to judge the type of Horse/Pony that is suitable for the customer depending on their ability. If you're an experienced rider, you are still required to have an assessment, although the session content will obviously differ in exercises and instruction to that of a total beginner. All Riders must have completed a RIDER REGISTRATION FORM if they wish to Ride at the Chestnuts. This is a questionnaire (mostly multiple choice) which asks the following questions: Personal Info (name, address, age etc) Height and Weight Occupation Medical Condition Emergency Contact Info (inc Doctors Name and Telephone Number) Self Stated Riding Ability (done by tick box) If you wish to Hack as your first ride, depending on the availability of the Menage, it may be possible to do a brief assessment, if it's obvious you can ride, then you will be allowed to continue on the hack. It's entirely up to the instructor if they deem you an able rider, but you should be able to canter without holding onto the sadle while doing exercises. All our Assessment Lessons are taught in the Indoor School, and have a duration of 30 minutes.
