Riding Lessons

How often do you get to take horse riding lessons? If you dont know how to ride? Would it be on a regular basis? or just one day?

You can ride as often as you like providing we have spaces. Teaching someone the fundamentals of Horse Riding doesn't take long (10-20 lessons on average), but like most things in life, mastering any subject takes time.

1 Lesson a week is only 26 Hours a Year in the Saddle, but by that time you should be able to Walk, Trot and Canter to a fair standard, and generally be confident on a horse in most situtations.

Some people say they've been riding 10 years, but have only ridden twice a year, that really isn't any time on a horse, this is the reason we Assess riders before allowing them out of our Indoor School.

Most clients ride once every week, sometimes when they have extra time they take advantage of our discounts and have extra hacks or lessons, which are sometimes 15-20% less than our standard price.

Do you supply the equipment? Like hats and boots?

HATS / HEADGEAR

We supply British Standard Riding Hats to all new clients FREE OF CHARGE. However, if you ride regularly we advise you purchase your own hat.

RIDING BOOTS / JODPUR BOOTS

We current have most of the common sizes available in limited numbers. If you ride, we advise wearing footwear with a heel, Wellington Boots are okay. The reason a heel is required is because it prevents your foot passing through the stirrup; in the event accident, your foot passing through the stirrup could result in the rider being dragged.

CLOTHING

There are not really any restrictions on what you should wear, although we make the following recommendations for first time riders with no gear of their own:

  • Jogging Bottoms or Some kind of Trouser (jeans can rub, so we advise against them)
  • Long or Short Sleeve T-shirt.
  • In Cold Weather a Jumper and Even a Coat is a good idea, although the school is totally enclosed, it can still be a little nippy during the really cold months.

Do you sell Gift Vouchers?

Yes, we sell many all year round, they make fantastic presents! If you wish to order, please Telephone 01273 503842 or Email Us.

However, we can only sell Introduction/Assessment Lessons and Private Lessons in Voucher Format.

It doesn't matter whether the voucher recepient is a rider, we have to put every client through a mandatory Assessment Lesson if they state they can ride, this is done to improve Health and Safety.

Once the Assessment Lesson has been taken, and known rider has been verified, they can go Hacking instead. One 30 Minute Private Lesson has the same value as a 60 minute Hack on the South Downs.

So typical combinations for presents for an adult are:

  • 1x 30 Minute Introduction / Assessment Lesson = £25 (adult)
  • TOTAL = £25 + £2 Postage and Packaging = £27 Payable in Advance

OR

  • 1x 30 Minute Introduction / Assessment Lesson = £25 (adult)
  • 1x 30 Minute Private Lesson = £30
  • TOTAL = £55 + £2 Postage and Packaging = £57 Payable in Advance

OR

  • 1x 30 Minute Introduction / Assessment Lesson = £25 (adult)
  • 2x 30 Minute Private Lesson = £60
  • TOTAL = £85 + £2 Postage and Packaging = £87 Payable in Advance
